DESBORDAR Collective
2018-2019
"Desbordar" is an experimental collaboration exploring the borders and limitations of being. That which is imposed by cultural, social, geographical, racial and gender definitions; exploring the symbolic possibility of a being beyond classifications, stereotypes and gender roles. We explore an imaginary body with margins that blur.
This performative research invited us to expose the intimate identity questions we have as creative women, to consider the contingent and particular problems of immigrant women in our country and to review what it is to be a woman and a Latin American in the world. DESBORDAR is a multidisciplinary work that works from the body as a dramatic support, narrating from the construction of images, of what body and song can tell through a performative language of oneiric compositions. We work around the idea of the border as a geographical border and of the body, of that which defines us, differentiates us and separates us physically, socially and culturally. Opening the process to the public was a key element for this process, experimenting with the scenic space and the relationship with the spectator/participant around a dinner table as a mediation experience.
